Thank you to all of you who responded to our survey. Your responses were encouraging and extremely helpful as we designed this first phase of arena use. Please note: this setup is a trial period. We will reassess shared use, fees, and how the arena fits into membership levels after the first several months.
Booking:
- Arena hours: 9 am to 9 pm
Closed from 1 to 2 for arena maintenance. These hours may change - Reservations are made in 1-hour blocks
Instructors/clinicians may reserve longer sessions - Each time slot may be reserved by one member only, but they may choose to include other riders
- Additional riders must be listed on the reservation
- Additional riders may log in/pay for ride using the "Covered Arena - Additional Rider" schedule
Fees
- Member riding alone: $25/hour
- Member riding with others: $20/hour per member
- Guest riders: $30 per guest
- Lights: $ 6/hour
Credit System:
Using credits has several advantages
- Credits provide a discount
- Credits are automatically applied when you reserve
- If you cancel, credits are automatically returned
- No PayPal or payment processor needed for each booking
- Credits do not expire
Parking - at Grey Barn
- You are welcome to park at the Covered Arena instead of Grove Park (the members' parking lot) if you prefer.
- Access the Covered Arena through the Grey Barn entrance gate at 530 Highway 81. Please follow parking signs for designated area to park.

Ashland Specific Arena Rules
- Please no lunging in the Covered Arena: for safety and for the footing
- Pick up manure before you leave. Wheelbarrows are provided at both ends
- Help us protect the track: Ride off the rail whenever possible
- Turn out the lights if you are the last one out
General Arena Etiquette
These are generally accepted rules for riding with others in covered (or small) arenas.
- Pass left shoulder to left shoulder when riding in opposite directions
- Call out "Inside," Outside," or "Across" as needed.
- Yield the track to horses working at a faster gait.
- Give priority to riders performing lateral work or riding a test/pattern
- Keep halts and walk breaks off the track
- Look before you turn, change direction, or cross
- Be predictable and courteous
